Innovator Founder Visa

Build Your Business in the UK — The Entrepreneur's Immigration Route

The Innovator Founder Visa was introduced in April 2023, replacing the earlier Innovator and Start-up Visa routes. It is the UK government’s primary immigration pathway for international entrepreneurs who want to establish and run an innovative business in the United Kingdom.

Unlike business visas in many other countries, the Innovator Founder Visa does not require a minimum investment amount. What it requires instead is a genuinely innovative business idea — one that is new to the UK market, commercially viable, and capable of growth and scalability.

The visa is granted initially for 3 years and can be extended. After 3 years (or sometimes sooner if your business milestones are met), you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) — meaning this is a direct pathway to permanent UK residency.

For entrepreneurs from Pakistan and India with technology, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, sustainability, or other innovative business ideas, the Innovator Founder Visa represents one of the most valuable UK immigration routes available today.

Frequantly Asked Questions

Do I need to already have a registered UK company to apply for the Innovator Founder Visa?
No. You can apply for the visa with a business idea and a valid endorsement — you do not need to have already registered the company. However, having a UK company formed, a website, or early market traction strengthens your endorsement application considerably.
Is there a minimum investment amount required?
No. The Innovator Founder Visa does not have a set minimum investment requirement, unlike some other entrepreneur visas globally. What matters is the quality and credibility of your business idea — not the amount of money you are bringing.
My business idea is in IT/technology — does that help?
Yes. Technology, software, fintech, health tech, AI, and sustainability businesses are among the most commonly endorsed categories. The UK has a strong appetite for tech innovation. However, innovation within the UK context is what matters — your idea needs to offer something genuinely new or significantly different to what already exists in the UK market.
I already run a successful business in Pakistan/India — can I bring it to the UK?
Simply expanding an existing overseas business to the UK is generally not considered sufficiently "innovative" for the Innovator Founder Visa. However, if your business model involves genuine innovation in the UK context, or if your UK branch involves new products, services, or markets, it may qualify. We assess this during your consultation.
Can my business partner apply with me on the same business idea?
Yes. Up to two founders can be endorsed on the same business idea, provided both are actively involved in running the business. Each founder applies separately but references the same business and endorsement.
What if my endorsement application is rejected?
You can apply to a different endorsing body with a revised or improved proposal. There is no limit on the number of endorsing bodies you can approach. EuropXint advises on alternative endorsing bodies and how to strengthen your application based on the feedback received.
Can my spouse work in the UK if I get an Innovator Founder Visa?
Yes. Your dependant spouse is entitled to work in the UK without restriction (any sector, any employer, any hours) while you hold the Innovator Founder Visa.
